Acceleration, Redirected!
A call-to-practice for cultural first movers in Ukraine
Kyiv, August 2026In the mid-20th century, Ukrainian visual artist Fedir Tetianych designed prototypes for a marvelous new invention: the “biotechnosphere.” This spherical capsule, roughly 2.4 meters, or 8 feet, in diameter, was conceived as an autonomous habitation module for one or two people that could support eternal life on Earth. From the early computer scientist Kateryna Yushchenko to physicists, inventors, and cardiac surgeons such as Ivan Puluj, the X-ray pioneer, and Mykola Amosov, who worked on heart valve prosthetics and biocybernetics, Ukrainian figures have long been part of the global story of technological change.
In partnership with our collaborators in Ukraine, Bogna Konior and Baby Prod , Restless Egg brings its accelerator model for a new class of culture-first founders to Kyiv for a two-day mini-accelerator. During the programme, Restless Egg will introduce its model: one in which artistic experimentation and a sustainable business venture grow from the same seed.
Through hands-on workshops, design sprints, and prototyping sessions, participants will be invited into the Egg’s product development process.
We invite applications from people and teams who already carry the seed of an idea and want to spend two intensive days developing it alongside others. Together, we aim to experiment with giving contemporary intensity a release valve in technical experimentation: redirecting accumulated existential pressure toward new ventures, tools, prototypes, and forms of practice.
Practical Details & How to Apply
- Participation is free of charge.
- We welcome applications from around the world. If selected, participants will need to arrange and cover their own travel to Kyiv.
- Programme will take place at the end of August 2026. Exact dates TBC.
Who we’re looking for
- Artists and cultural practitioners curious about building ventures, products, or sustainable business structures around their work.
- Technologists and engineers interested in experimenting with new creative formats, or seeking unconventional collaborators.
- Early-stage founders, or soon-to-be founders, with a project that has a creative or cultural dimension and a desire to build a team.
- People currently working in fields such as journalism, research, defense, or technology who have ideas for ventures or projects that their current roles cannot support.
- Soldiers and veterans who want to channel their knowledge and experience into projects of their own.
- People who do not fit neatly into any of the above, but have something they are itching to discuss, test, and develop.
What we’ll do
- Restless Egg will introduce its model and share what it has learned so far from building an accelerator for cultural first movers.
- Participants will work in small groups on real projects, either around their own ideas or ideas that emerge in the room.
- Together, we will move from concept toward something tangible: a prototype, a business pitch, a next step, or a clearer path forward.
- We will discuss the future of technology and culture in Ukraine and the region: what is particular to this place and moment, how contemporary intensity can be catalysed into new creative ventures, and what can be learned from other contexts and experiences.
- We will build real connections across fields that do not often intersect.
- Our ultimate goal is to provide the first scaffolding for creative, unusual, and bold ideas thatcan grow into original products, enterprises, or business ventures.
